I'm a Julep Maven!

Hey guys!  I found something that combines two of my very favorite things: getting stuff in the mail and buying nail polish.  Julep Maven has been around for about a year, but I just read about it for the first time last month.  I got the Bombshell introductory box, and it came in the mail on Monday!  Yay!

When you sign up to become a Julep Maven(this is a referral link!), you are asked to complete a quiz about your color and style preferences.  The different style profiles are It Girl, Classic With a Twist, American Beauty, Boho Glam, and Bombshell (the profile I received).  Every month, Julep will email you to let you see what comes in that month's box for your style profile.  You don't have to order the box that matches your profile, though.  You can preview all the boxes and choose which one you like the best, or you can decline to get any box that month and you won't be charged!  Isn't that awesome?!

The monthly subscription box costs $19.99, and you're supposed to get about $40 worth of products every month.  BUT if you use the code "penny" at checkout you get your first box for $0.01.  $0.01!!!  I've also read that the code "color2012" works as well, but I used the code "penny".  I paid $3.99 for shipping so my total was only $4.00.  Other mavens have posted that shipping was included with the $0.01 price, but I couldn't get mine to come off.  I still think it was a great deal, so you won't see me complainin'!

You receive reward points for every box you choose to purchase.  I already got 300 for my first box.  You also get points for referring people.  These points can be used on future Julep purchases.  But the most exciting part of this whole thing are the mystery boxes.  I'm not an expert yet, but it appears that they do a mystery box about once every quarter.  The price is still $19.99 but you will receive anywhere from $60 to $200 worth of products.  Seriously, stop everything you are doing right now and google "julep mystery box"!  Some of the boxes people have received are ah-ma-zing.

So are you ready to see what came in my first box?

Here's what the inside looked like when first opened.

Instructions for Glitter Pots.  These were extra freebies in the box!  Yay!

I also received a roll on cuticle oil that smells like lavender (!!!), but I couldn't get a picture I was pleased with.  Overall, I think this is a really cool subscription program.  Besides the fact that I get to receive nail polish stuff in the mail, I love that I can opt out of a month but I probably won't.  I'm also jazzed about the Julep online community.  There's all sorts of EASY nail art tutorials on their blog I want to try.  Oh, and I love freebies!!!  The only issues I might have with this are the sizes of the polishes and the possibility of getting duplicate colors.  I took a photo of the polishes and glitter pots next to an Xbox controller for a size reference.  They still don't look as small in this photo as they do in person!

Ignore all the cat hair on the couch slipcover!
As far as receiving duplicate colors, I guess that's why they let you preview the boxes!  Really though, I just like getting packages in the mail.  I don't know why.  It's just more fun!  I think I'm gonna stick with this for a few months while I can afford it and see if I can get a mystery box!

I haven't actually swatched the polishes yet because I wanted to post this while I know that those coupon codes are still working.  But I will definitely make a post when I get the chance to use these (I only have one more of my three Skyfall OPIs to try and then these will be next!).  The bombshell button on the right side of this blog also contains my referral link, but even if you don't want to use my link, you should still check this out!

See you next time!
