March Julep Maven Box: Get Ready to Play!

This month's theme is "Get Ready to Play!" and the collection is made up of pastel cremes and opalescent shimmers. My mailman shoved my Julep box in my mailbox instead of putting it in the big box for packages, so I ripped a side off of the box trying to yank it out of the little cubby.  Even though my box is ugly, the contents inside are beautiful.  It's a gorgeous day outside today (after a cold snap this weekend!).... perfect weather for an outdoor nail polish photo shoot!  Let's have a look at these pretty pastels!

Rock Star Hand Creme, Joy, Leila, Shenae, Adrianna, Strawberry-Mint Lip Balm.
I changed my profile this month to Boho Glam, which came with Joy and Leila, and I added on Shenae and Adrianna.  One thing that's a little frustrating about Julep is that you never really know what a shade looks like until you see it in person, but I guess that could be said about any nail color you only see online, right?  What I mean is that you can't find any swatches online because the colors are brand new releases, and the tiny swatches that Julep provides on their blog are WORTHLESS.  So I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Joy, which is described on julep.com as a smoky mauve creme.  I was afraid this was going to look like some other fuchsias I own or even too lilac-y; seriously, every picture I've seen of this looks different.  This is a beautiful pastel mauve.  You know what this reminds me of?  Have you ever had grape gum that's bubblegum colored but with a purple tint?  Yeah, I'll describe this as "bubblegum purple."  I hope this description makes since to someone other than myself!

Joy.  See what I mean about the "bubblegum purple" thing?
Leila is described as a lemon yellow opalescent shimmer.  I would probably describe it more as a buttery yellow though.  I believe this is my first yellow polish, and I feel pretty brave for ordering it.  Yellow usually makes me look like a lobster, but the pastel-ness of this makes it look a little cooler against my skin tone.  Yay!  I'm excited now.

Leila.

This is me showing you the shimmer in Leila!

Shenae is described as a pastel mint green opalescent shimmer.  This is one of my add-ons (you can add on up to three polishes for five bucks each) from the It Girl box.  Shenae looks more aqua to me, but either way, I love this color.  It would've been awesome if I had this when I wore these jeans!  For the record, I hate the name Shenae.  Just sayin'.

Shenae.
Me showing you the shimmer in Shenae.

Adrianna is my other add-on and is from the Bombshell box.  She is described as a smoky pistachio creme, which I think is pretty accurate.  Adrianna dries darker than it appears in this photo.  I'm not sure what drew me to this color, but I have it on now and it's very unique to anything else I own.  I'm really liking these pastels!

Adrianna.  Looks more pistachio colored in real life!
The beauty product this month is the Rock Star Hand Creme.  I don't know why all hand cremes have to smell like old people, but I still use hand creme like crazy.  I have some Avon at work that someone gave me that I'm almost out of, so this is super convenient timing!

Rock Star Hand Creme, obviously.
Every month there is a free extra surprise, and this month it is a Strawberry-Mint Lip Balm.  Lip balm is another product I use like crazy, and I think this is one of my favorite beauty products from Julep I have ever received!  The formula is super buttery and soft, and the packaging is so cute.  (It's square!)  This stuff smells just like that Nipple Nibblers stuff you can buy at sex toy parties!

The linty stuff on the tube is from the shredded paper in the box.
I love that this is a square just like the rest of the Julep products!
I'm so glad I didn't skip this month, and I think I could've easily ordered the whole pastel collection.  There are several coupon codes where you can get an introductory box for $0.01 when you sign up to be a Julep Maven.  I think "COLOR2012" and "PENNY" are still active codes, and you can use my referral link on the right. (The button that says "I'm a Bombshell.")  If you select the Maven shipping, then it ships free!
